I used to answer this question with a simple – Fine- and hope that the person wouldn’t see straight through my somewhat “false” or “vague” response. At one point in my life, I dreaded this question, often thinking that my response HAD to be a positive one. Nowadays, I realize that it is truly okay to “not” be okay. I am no longer clinically depressed, as I was for several years, but some days, I do feel a little down or under the weather. Some days I may feel a little more agitated, a little more moody. And I realize that all of that, is OKAY! In fact, it is “positive” to accept whatever mood that presents itself and work through it in a positive manner. It is not always about the situation, it is how you react to it. And I know that with time, I have learned to deal with my moods a little better.
