The busier that my life gets, the more I realize that it is important to take time to relax and regroup. I have a demanding schedule and I choose to have a demanding schedule because of what I am trying to accomplish in my life. But I also realize that in order to maintain my mental and physical health, I have to also take care of my body and mind by prioritizing the proper amount of sleep, physical fitness, and relaxation. If I do not allow my body to rest and recover, then I end up having problems with stress, sickness, and fatigue. This past week, I found out that my body has limitations, and that is OK. It has taught me that sometimes I just have to concentrate on myself and also, learn to say “no” to doing things that are not required for the goals that I am trying to accomplish for the week. If it can wait, then my rest and relaxation is more important this week.
Goal setting is on the horizon as we approach the start of 2023. As I think of my goals, one that comes to mind is spreading more love and being a better giver. But in order to be a giver, you have to first take care of yourself so that you are able to have something to “pour” into the lives of others. Give to others but don’t forget to “give” to yourself. Allow your body and mind to relax and regroup each week so that you don’t subject yourself to problems with unnecessary stress and worry. Be anxious for nothing. I can relax more because I know that no matter how bad it gets, God is in control and He is going to get me through the week. And even on those days that seem so awful, I focus on the fact that God will get me through each hour, each minute with prayer and meditation. And even when it gets tough, God always comes through.
