Dr. Terri Whitley Jackson,PharmD
Motivational Speaker/PodcasterI have suffered with a mental disorder for over 30 years, and although I don’t profess to be an expert, I have lots of experience to share. Anyone can talk about mental illness, but only a patient can truly give insight on what it’s like to “have” the illness. Chocolate Covered Nut: The Journey Continues

“Chocolate Covered Nut”, is an autobiography depicting the faith journey of an African-American pharmacist with bipolar disorder. The illness has been in remission since shortly before she rekindled a relationship with her husband almost twenty years after they first met. “Chocolate Covered Nut” is both humorous, yet inspiring and informative. This manuscript will impact not only those who suffer with mental illness, but those who love and support them and give any reader the tools they need to develop a deeper level of faith. The intended audience is a broad audience, including, the faith-based community, church leaders, church members, mental health advocates, health professionals, patients, family members, students, and educators.

The Madness Within: The Journey of a Future Doctor, An Autobiography

“The Madness Within” is not just a collection of thoughts and experiences but it is my own personal account of the miracles that have occurred in my life to bring me to this very purposeful point along the journey of “life”. This book contains miracles that can inspire others to overcome the challenges in their own lives. This book shows how I overcame insurmountable odds, ignored family members who told me to give up on my dream of becoming a doctor, and how I survived possible death from a drug poisoning my body. Despite all of these problems and after several hospitalizations, somehow I still managed to graduate from pharmacy school, pass my board exams on the first try, and not only become a pharmacist but eventually a pharmacy manager, shortly after graduation. My life changed dramatically within a few years. I want to share my story so others can know that there is hope for anyone who is willing to take a step of faith in the right direction.
